Teambuilding - Trading Post

Trading Post is a supercharged game of information gathering, haggling and building trust - an excellent icebreaker or conference interlude.

Trading Post is a fun, fast-moving and highly immersive business game that explores the skills of negotiation, information gathering and network building. It is particularly effective at bringing people together and breaking down barriers.

The game is set in the lawless Wild West town of Dodge City in the 1860s - a time of great opportunity for the wise and quick-witted, but a place of potential disaster for the unwary and ill-informed. Each team plays a family that arrives in the city with few possessions - horses, beads, gold, leather, money and, most importantly, valuable information. Their goal is to maximise the value of their possessions, by using information they accumulate, as they build relationships and deal with the other families in town.

Trading Post is easy to understand but a real challenge to play. After the short briefing the game starts and the action quickly builds to what becomes a frenzy of stock market proportions. To be successful in Trading Post requires more than good networking. It will also take ruthless negotiation, creative thinking and strategic planning to become the richest family in town.

This is an incredibly versatile activity that can be played by 25 to 1,200 people in just one hour. It is also a lot of fun, with cowboy hats, props and music enhancing the Wild West atmosphere. Add some ranch food, costumes and line dancing, and Trading Post becomes the centrepiece of a hot diggity Western-themed evening that will put the "yeehaw!" into any audience.
